Advantages of the EyeMed Vision Care Plan
Eye Exam Dilation
Dilation is always covered under EyeMed's vision plan unlike some companies who only cover dilation for certain conditions.
Lens Option Copays / not Discounts
When you visit an EyeMed in-network provider, you will know exactly how much your lens options (such as scratch-resistant, tinting, anti-glare features) will cost! This 'upfront-pricing' copay feature is beneficial for members; other companies only offer a 'up to xyz discount' off providers' normal and varying fees. EyeMed copay-based lens options are good at ALL our provider locations; other vision companies only offer their discounts are some of their providers.
Frames
EyeMed provides a simple $130 retail allowance benefit for eyeglass frames. We do not confuse our members by offering a wholesale allowance for independent providers and retail allowance at vision retail chains. We want our members to have a clear and concise understanding of their benefit.
Additional Complete Pair of Eyeglasses 40% Discount
When you purchase additional complete pair of eyeglasses (either in addition to your original 'benefit' purchase of eyeglasses, or in addition to your 'benefit' purchase of contact lenses), you will receive a 40% discount off these complete pair eyeglasses purchases! This is a great savings for our members, as many members buy more than one pair of eyeglasses. Other companies offer programs that only provide a 20% discount for this benefit.
Additional Discounts for Items Not Covered Under Your Plan
Members will receive a 20% discount on items not covered by the plan at network providers, which may not be combined with any other discounts or promotional offers. The discount does not apply to EyeMed provider's professional services or to contact lenses.
Discounts do not apply for benefits provided by other group benefit plans.
Contact Lens Fit & Follow-up benefit
The normal provider charge for contact lens fit & follow-up ranges from $80 to $120. EyeMed limits how much our providers charge you for the fit & follow-up; members will pay no more than $55 for standard fit & follow-up and 10% discount off premium (e.g., toric contact lenses, etc) fit & follow-up. Most companies require you to use your contact lens allowance to cover not only your contact lenses, but also your fit and follow-up exams from your providers. With both services coming out of your contact lens allowance, it does not go very far. We want you to be able to use your contact lens allowance for the actual contact lenses.
LASIK or PRK Discount
Members also receive 15% off retail price or 5% off promotional price for LASIK or PRK from the US Laser Network, owned and operated by LCA vision. Since LASIK or PRK vision correction is an elective procedure (i.e., not covered), performed by specially trained providers, this discount may not always be available from a provider in your immediate location. Contact Lens By Mail Program
After your initial purchase and your contact lens allowance have been exhausted, replacement contact lenses may be obtained via the Internet at substantial savings and mailed directly to you. Details are available at www.eyemedvisioncare.com.
